THE SAFE CHOICE FOR
INDUSTRIAL MEMORY AND DATA SECURITY

There was a news article the other day that pricked my attention.

It probably would have passed most people by, but with “USB” firmly in the headline, it piqued my interest immediately.

It transpires that tech giant IBM have made the decision to ban their staff from using USB sticks, SD cards and other removable memory devices.

And it’s happening quickly – there’ll be a zero tolerance policy on removable devices by the end of this month.

I know I bang the drum when it comes to the danger of unsecure removable memory, but when a giant like IBM have woken up to the risks, then it’s worth sitting up and taking notice.

You can read the article here – http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-44069488 – and it draws attention to the fact that IBM may struggle to implement this plan – the use of USB is so ingrained within the organisation that it is likely to cause some ‘disruption’.

The truth of the matter is that there are still issues associated with the alternatives to USB – the cloud still has security risks attached to it for example – and I suppose that’s just one of the reasons why our customers opt for the Datakey solution – it’s removable, but without some of the security issues that USB struggles with.

Are removable memory products pretty widely used in your organisation? Could you live without them?
